Due to the continuous development in the area of climate and climate impact research, an update of the future climate simulations was carried out in the Summer 2019. The statistical downscaling of the former version was replaced by dynamic climate scenarios developed within the framework of the Impact2C Project.
Because of the continuous further development in the field of climate and Climate impact research it is still one of the most extensive ensemble of regional climate simulations. This enables us to increasingly better understand the consequences of a global warming with its effects on the Germany.
The underlying regional climate model ensemble represents possible climatic development paths from 1971 to 2100. In comparison to global climate simulations, the model ensemble is used for refinement in order to represent regional characteristics in greater detail. Station observation data from the DWD was also processed for the observation period from 1961 to 2020. The climate simulation data was bias-adjusted to ensure the comparability of the data sets. This is a necessary procedure in order to present the impact assessments in the various sectors as concretely as possible.
